Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten

Blythe Wallace

Hello and Welcome!

I’m Blythe Wallace and I currently teach the Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten class at Glen Alta. This is my 15th year in education and I’ve been fortunate to have many different experiences that have shaped my educational perspectives. I began my career teaching upper grades (4th and 5th), and then worked as both an Instructional Coach in Literacy and an Intervention Coordinator. Three years ago, I transferred to Glen Alta and began my kindergarten experience. Kindergarten is such a magical time and I love seeing the students’ excitement for learning, along with their academic growth and social/emotional development during our year together.

I graduated from UCLA with a major in International Development and a specialization in Education. I earned my teaching credential and M.A. in Education from Pepperdine University, and consistently strive to develop my knowledge in the field. I have been National Board and Gifted and Talented Education certified. Since becoming a kindergarten teacher, I have become especially interested in Early Childhood Education. I have earned over 30 ECE units, including my Transitional Kindergarten Certification from Loyola Marymount University.

The learning community that we create in our classroom allows every student to feel respected and important. I want my students to love learning. I want them to ask questions and seek answers. I want them to create and imagine. I want them to be kind and feel empathy. I want them to identify problems and investigate ways to solve them. I want them to laugh, play, dance, sing, explore, and have fun, all while developing the skills they need to continually reach and surpass their academic goals. I want them to communicate their thoughts, feelings, ideas, and wonderings, and know their voices are important.
